Our Process

We combine traditional tried and tested methodologies and innovative techniques, to enable teams to do things they were not able to do before.

  • SCOPING

  • Analysis

  • PROGRAM

  • SUSTAINABILITY

During the scoping, once initial guidance on focus area has been given by a potential client, the latest available reports on client strategy and performance are reviewed, and key stakeholder interviews are conducted. The outcome of the scoping is to determine the focus of the analysis phase, and sometimes also the main project objective(s) is determined at this stage. The scoping exercise typically lasts 1 – 2 days, and can be done remotely.

The analysis is a deep-dive into the area(s) and / or objective(s) defined during the scoping, using a range of different tools, techniques and turnkey approaches. The analysis phase is best completed at the client site, although depending on the area(s) and objective(s), a hybrid model could potentially work. The outcome of the analysis is the presentation / report of the findings, along with an outline for a proposed project including clear objectives and preliminary projections on operational and financial improvements. The analysis typically lasts 2 – 4 weeks.

Our programs range from smaller interventions of duration 2 – 3 months, to larger programs spanning 12 – 18 months. Projects are typically split into 3 phases: solution development (around 20% of the total duration), piloting and implementation (around 30% of the total duration) and embedding and anchoring (around 50% of the total duration). Some overlap between the phases is expected. Projects are typically run on a hybrid model – site presence is agreed in advance of starting the project.

Sustainability is the responsibility of the client, and The Productivity Lab can support with audits, if required. These are done at the client’s discretion, typically between 6 – 12 months after project end, to provide course correction where required. Alternatively, these may be done by clients themselves in the form of self-verification. Either way, we will ensure detailed sustainability plans and associated tools are developed as part of the project.
